Anatomy of a murdered Striped Crocus

Ok, the first of the Striped Crocuses has been brutally killed…not a great start for the flowering season!
I wonder who did it. As I show it to the cat in an investigative way she seems innocent enough. Maybe the tabby cat she always has turf wars with? Or the ‘lion’ cat that wonders around spraying every corner of the garden? Nah…he’s too quiet. Maybe the massive, scruffy and filthy ‘fur ball’ cat I saw the other day, stumbling like a drunk and getting stuck while trying to squeeze through the fence? Naah….he was way too dozed to do it. Perhaps the Magpies looking for twigs for their dome nest nearby? I wonder…
